Smash him in the Face: Predicts it's the year of the Dragon

Lyoto Machida vs. Rashad Evans

The battle of two undefeated champions.
Black vs. Mexican.
Striker vs. Technician.
Offense vs. Defense.

Can it get any better than this?

I love it when two guys get together in the ring that are good. I love watching both of these guys, but I really love watching Machida. I might be the only one. The UFC sure doesn't like him. He doesn't win spectacularly but he does win. And win. And win. And he never gets hit.

It's a thing of beauty to watch Lyoto. Perfect timing...hard, fast kicks, great footwork, quick hands, good vision and nearly impenetrable defense. I think his style frustrates people... like it did to Tito Ortiz who complained during their fight by sighing and rolling his eyes and throwing up his hands as if Lyoto were supposed to remain still and get hit.

Doesn't seem like a good idea to me... and it didn't seem to be a good idea to him. So Tito was pushed from the UFC with his internet sensation girlfriend to... I'm not sure where he'll end up. He's a good fighter who was a great fighter once and he still what it takes to compete at this level.

This Sat. I think you'll see Lyoto's defensive style frustrate Rashad Evans the same way it has everyone else. Sure Rashad can end it with one punch but if you saw the Griffen fight you saw that a great game plan can do a lot against Evans. But Machida hasn't show the need to demonstrate his ability to take blows (see Oscar De La Hoya)to let everyone know he's a true champion. He, like Anderson Silva, just keeps winning.
